The lightblue thing in the corner is supposed to be one of Patamon's bubblebooms (are they called like that in English? I only the German version and in German its attack's called Luftschuss/air shot).

But don' ask me about the clouds/lightning, I know the background doesn't make any sense, I was just bored and started to scribble around to fill it

Omg, you've got a Patamon Beanie? I've been trying to find one for myself but it's pretty much impossbile to find a shop that sells them nowadays, at least in Europe.

Yeah, it's all in pencil crayon.
I can of course try to help you, but I think you've got the wrong person to give you tips.
Usually I use normal colored pencils and heavy pressure to make the colors look more brightly.
And I often do cross-hatching. My drawings tend to look much more realistic with it. It can be pretty time-consuming and annoying, though. But it really helps, you can for example vary the length, angle and closeness of the lines to make the coloration more versatile.

I wouldn't know. Digimon isn't really my thing--I'm lucky to even match the name Patamon to the cool-looking orange...bat-eared...thing.

The background is wicked cool! I think it's even better that it isn't really anything at all. The fact that it's all black/blue/white sets your attention on the orange creature in the center!
