APH: Some historical bromances by Cadaska APH: Some historical bromances by Cadaska
The first sentence is subjective but they're the most famous at least.

Some people demanded more historical bromances. Germany/Ludwig didn’t exist back then but using Prussia wouldn’t have made any sense (Schiller was from the south-west).

Schiller probably did not mean Goethe when he wrote about fat writers but Goethe assumed he did and sulked.

Goethe looks silly in my anime style. But it worked surprisingly well for Schiller. Probably because he totally looked like some anime bishonen in real life  (extremely tall, slender, long curly blonde hair, blue eyes…)upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

Not so young Goethe : upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

I’m so glad people shipped Goethe and Schiller characters in the 18th century. I always felt weird in German classes for shipping Elizabeth I./Mary Stuart like crazy (the characters, not the real people!).

On the other hand, Beethoven broke his friendship with Goethe when he saw the poet/scientist/statesman bowing to Emperor Napoleon's carriage on a street - this was after Beethoven was disillusioned by Napoleon when he made himself Emperor, and when Beethoven changed the dedication of his "Eroica" Symphony from one to General Bonaparte to one "to the memory of a great man".

Frederick the Great also wrote fanfiction. At least he made Jesus and John the Apostle lovers in one of his writings. Yay for bible slash.

In german we had to read 'Kabale und Liebe' by Schiller...
It's about the tragic love between Luise and Ferdinand....we all just called ferdinand 'ferdi'...
wonder if schiller would've liked that Giggle

....o_O

wow...you have to read up on them otherwise your general education will be lacking XD. (its like not knowing who shakespear is or  poe or Fontane or Brecht or Stoker or Shelley or...well i could go on quite a while....^^°)
e.g.
Goethe: the drama Faust (make a deal with the devil to get the girl)  or poems like the earlking or sorcerer's apprentice are famous ( the sorcerer's apprentice was even used by disney for a micky mouse vid  ->    www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHTnJN…
Schiller: the robbers, Intrigue and love, wilhelm tell ( the one where he has to shoot an apple from the head of his son) or the virgin of orleans

Interessant.

Nothing is better than bromance! The first one that comes to mind when I think of Historical bromance is between Pierre Trudeau and Fidel Castro. They were considered 'Intellectual Soul Mates' and loved each other's company. Richard Nixon didn't like Pierre at all and called him an 'Asshole' (And among other things) and Pierre just responded with 'I've been called much worse by much better people'. XD

As far as I remember: Goethe was the perfect diplomat. When the French army broke into his house, he let them drink is wine cellar dry. This way they at least respected him and kept his house intact. (And destroyed others instead. ;) )

I love the way you put it all here. :D

Thank you!

Yeah there are many different versions of the event. Personally I like the one where his girl-friend had to save him from the Frenchmen :XD: His mother wrote him a letter thanking God for saving Goethe from being killed by the soldiers, so it must have been a  dangerous situation (or his mom was being overly dramatic....).

More historical bromance!  :D  I love it!  Again, I feel like I've learned something for your comic, without it coming out dry like a textbook.

It seems like friendships between men in the old days involved a lot of passive-aggressiveness.  XD
