I have the headcanon that Vash dislikes strangers because of Caesar. One of his first memories is about a foreign guy killing his people. But he's also grateful for the cool stuff Rome gave him, so no hard feelings: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExWfh6…

As always, the outfits make no sense.

For people who read my comics about Frederick the Great: Voltaire not-very-subtly hinted that Frederick and Caesar were very much alike, since both loved starting wars and laying beneath men. Voltaire stressed that he supported the second hobby, but Frederick was still less than pleased. Who can blame him.

I read that Caesar had the pirates' throats slit first so as not to feel the pain of crucifiction since they had been kind to him, but he did crucify their bodies as a warning to other pirates. It puts Caesar's own death look like poetic justice since he was also killed by those he trusted.
