APH: Our embarrassing bosses 2 by Cadaska APH: Our embarrassing bosses 2 by Cadaska
Because the first one was so much fun to draw: cadaska.deviantart.com/art/APH… Part 3: cadaska.deviantart.com/art/APH…

When I googled some parts of Voltaire’s letters to Frederick in English, Google gave me Fifty Shades of Grey and some disturbing BDSM websites. Seems legit. Frederick occasionally expressed his wish to put Voltaire in chains, to break all his bones on the wheel and to kill him with poisoned barbed hooks.

But they were ridiculously domestic as old men. Like Frederick ordering Voltaire to keep himself warm when it was cold outside („Maybe you don’t care about your life, but I do!“). Or sending each other little drawings of their homes. Or Frederick giving Voltaire tips to improve his eating and sleeping habits. Or worrying that his little grandnephews might find him boring and Voltaire just going „Aw, no!“. Frederick also wrote a really moving memorial tribute to him.

Monkey panels: Voltaire was actually very pro-animal rights,  just like Isaac Newton, John Locke and Frederick the Great. It was Voltaire who gave Frederick his first texts on the subject.

Where do you get your resources for the Our Embarrassing Bosses series? I'm interested in learning more about this, and I would really appreciate it if you pointed me in the right direction.

I read the letters that Voltaire and Frederick sent to each other. And some books about Frederick's and Voltaire's lives (google books might help, many pages are online). But mainly the letters. There are collections of them in French and German.

I'm not really a fan of bromances but, "You're not dying. I can't allow it." just... Right in da feels man! And the end was just too funny! Poor, poor Frederick.

Well bromances usually happen between two straight guys, so it's not really a bromance here :XD: But I guess it counts!

So awesome! Such rich, immensely funny knowledge! Oh and when I read this, I thought of the Royal Dairies Series about Marie Antoinette whose mother of course was Maria Theresa. And I don't know if it's based on a real poem or made up but the book had this: "Bend over, King Freddy of Prussia, let the Empress take aim, your butt will fly to Russia, your brains to sunny Spain!" LOL XD

That's quite an awesome poem but I doubt Marie Antoinette would have written anything like that. It just doesn't sound like something a royal person in the 18th century would write. Plus Maria Theresia would have told her off for using such language and imagery XD
She called Frederick evil and a monster, but that's about it as far as I know.

LOL...yeah I know. I didn't know if it was totally made up or based off the real thing and just worded in a more modern way. In the book (which is historical fiction for young teens anyway so it probably is made up), it claimed that Maria Theresa's troops sang it. And it also reminded me of Hetalia Austria because there's this one part where Marie Antoinette gets homesick after goes into France and starts making fun of their obsession of "etiquette" (like how the public can watch the royals eat and no cares if someone pees in the halls, but heaven forbid your flappets are down!) and at one point she passes by a concert house or something and says, "Mama was right. The music does get worse the more one gets further from Vienna." I was like, "Austria would soooo say that line." XD

She was a very busy woman XD She wanted this many, too. It meant more people whom she could marry off to increase her family influence.
And she loved her husband and found him attractive, which was of course pretty rare back then.

Yeeeeees!

I read that too, but the autopsy was done on British soil with British doctors present so to me it makes more sense for the doctor to have used British feet.
But yeah' I'm gonna remove my comment to be sure.

I have no idea whether Frederick even read Antigone. But he knew pretty much all Greek tragedies so it's not unlikely. And I bet he could identify with Kreon XD
